My no coffee experiment and the detox that comes with it.

Okay, so I have embarked upon a programme of drinking no coffee for seven days. I love my coffee, grinding fresh beans and waiting as my Bialetti stove top pot brews my favourite cup of black gold is one of the great pleasures of my life.

However, recently, immediately after breakfast, which is the only time I have my coffee I had begun to experience stomach pains. My stomach was incredibly upset and had a yukky sickly feeling. There had been no changes in my diet, no changes in my health in general so I placed the ill feeling stomach to my coffee consumption.

I decided to give it up and I am currently five days into my no coffee programme and boy am I suffering. On the morning of day two I woke with a mild headache and some minute feelings of tiredness and lethargy. Those feelings and the headache have continued to increase until today - five days in - I feel dreadful.

I woke this morning at five am with a terrible headache which was most prominent in the upper area of my nose feeling very like a sinus problem. The headache stretches into my forehead and has a pressured vice like pain. I also woke feeling incredibly tired and struggled to get out of bed until 9am. My mind was not clear also. I felt a little muddled, a little confused.

As I write this it iis currently 3.02pm and my headache has become very troublesome. My eyes have pressure behind them and my forehead hurts a great deal. I am preparing myself to go for a walk to try and clear my head, an activity which I usually love but my lethargy means that walking will be a struggle this afternoon.

Needless to say that I am shocked that only one cup of coffee and foregoing it could have such a negative effect but it is certainly biting hard. I will continue to not have coffee and hopefully soon these symptoms shall pass. Sooner rather than later I hope.

England Boss Roy Hodgson Singles Out Everton Star Ross Barkley For Special Wembley Performance

As England beat hapless Estonia last night at London`s Wembley Stadium taking their European qualifying record to nine wins from nine games boss Roy Hodgson singled out rising star Ross Barkley for his outstanding performance.

21 year old Ross Barkley, a graduate of Everton`s excellent youth development system shone in last nights game setting up Theo Walcott`s opening goal on the stroke of half time and lighting up an otherwise uneventful game with his dazzling display confirming the growing stature of his precocious talent.

Hodgson had this to say about the brilliant young Everton and England man.

"It`s not often that I contest people`s choice for man of the match. There were one or two other candidates, but I`m pleased Ross got it. We saw what he can do out there."

Barkley has been in excellent form for Everton this season and seems to have found a role within the team that he thrives in after manage Roberto Martinez dropped him into a slightly deeper midfield role where he can dictate the game with his passing and attacking instincts. The young Merseyside native had this to say about his own performance.

"I`m over the moon with my performance. I was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Because I`m an attacking midfielder it is important to get goals, but it was even more important we got the three points."

Barkley had started the game for England last night but maybe only because Micheal Carrick was out injured. On last nights mercurial display Barkley has proved that he should certainly be picked ahead of the over-rated and ineffectual Manchester United midfielder whose place in the England team probably has more to do with Hodgsons bias for picking players from the "big" clubs ahead of better players who do not play for the "Sky five."

A Book That Will Change Your Life : Colon Health, They Key To A Vibrant Life By Dr. Norman W. Walker

There are so many practices that we can adopt to improve our health and reduce our chances of contracting serious illness or disease. One of the most overlooked of those is to try and ensure that you have a clean, healthy functioning colon.
The colon, often referred to as the large bowel or large intestine is an important part of the digestive tract. The digestive tract is the part of the body`s organs which passes digested food and liquid through the body to its place of elimination. It is therefore imperative that the colon functions properly so that the waste products that your body produces are eliminated correctly.

Some weeks ago I read a book called, "Colon Health, The Key To A Vibrant Life", written by Dr. Norman W. Walker.

It is an incredible book and is a must read for anybody who wishes to live a healthy life.

Dr. Walker asserts with great confidence that the colon is simply one of the most important organs in the body because it is connected with every other part of the body via the bloodstream. Toxins absorbed by the colon pass into the bloodstream and therefore are moved around the body.

Dr. Walker argues that a huge number of illnesses and diseases can be avoided and cured by concentrating on having a clean colon. And having a clean colon is not difficult all it requires is that you consume a diet of high fibre, high water foods. Meat and dairy products and processed foods contain no fibre and therefore they do not pass through the colon but form a sticky paste which grasps onto the sides of your colon and coats it with a slime that is essentially rotting putrefying mucus that will cause illness and disease. Indeed, more and more studies into colon cancer are showing that a dirty, sticky colon is the main reason for contracting colon cancer.

I would recommend that you purchase this book and read it cover to cover maybe more than once as the revelations found within are startling. I have begun focusing on my colon health and have certainly found a marked improvement in my overall physical health. Give the book a read, you never know, it might just save your life.

The Importance Of Having A Rest Day

You may be eager to exercise every day but be careful not to overdo it and make sure that you have a rest day.

It is Sunday right now as I write this, a quarter past five in the early evening here in Berkshire, England and I am happy to say that I have spent the entire day doing nothing for today I decided to have a rest day.

During the last seven days I have run twice and cycled intensively. Yesterday I plotted a new course in my local area that includes excellent undulating hills for my bike and I to enjoy. I pushed myself hard once again and arrived home swimming in sweat and aching from the exertion. But, ultimately feeling incredibly happy as those endorphins raced through my brain. I fell into bed last night feeling elated and exhausted and was asleep before I even felt the warmth of my bed sheets covering my body.

Exercise is wonderful and often leaves me feeling tired, happy and almost in a state not far removed from feeling stoned as Youtuber Mango.Margaux recently explained.

Consistent exercise and wonderfully healthy eating is the best way to achieve fitness and good health of course but you must be careful. It is all too easy to become carried away by the joy that exercise gives you and to overdo it.

Consistency is the key to success but you must give yourself some rest days. Days where your activity level is as reduced as possible. After my lung bursting, fat burning efforts during the last seven days today has been my rest day.

I have spent the day either on my sofa or, like now, laying on my bed working on my laptop. I have read, written, e-mailed and generally completed a great deal of work whilst barely moving my body.

Today I ache but it is not a painful ache or the ache of a body that is telling me that it has had enough activity. It is the ache which I enjoy, it tells me that I have worked hard and that my form is working well.

But I must rest and so must you. Rest days are of paramount importance because without them you open yourself up to damage from over exercising and falling foul of injury. Given that consistency is the key to exercise an injury meaning you have to break from your regimen will break that consistency and leave you having to re-build your fitness. Two years ago I developed the early signs of shin splints. I ignored those early warning bells and ended up having to do no exercise for three months. Had I listened to my poorly shins at the outset of their cries I would only have needed to rest for two weeks at the most. Two weeks rest is far better than three months immobility.

So make sure that you rest and rest well. This evening I will be taking to my bed at exactly 8pm to ensure that my body receives the maximum amount of rest that it requires. And even if I am not tired enough to sleep I will be laid down and quiet giving my muscles a chance to continue their natural work of repair and growth.

Rest days are imperative and should not be considered as a day lost in your quest for fitness. They ought to be considered as an important part of your exercise regimen for without them you may find that an enforced rest, pain and recovery becomes your new routine.
