My no coffee experiment and the detox that comes with it.
Okay, so I have embarked upon a programme of drinking no coffee for seven days. I love my coffee, grinding fresh beans and waiting as my Bialetti stove top pot brews my favourite cup of black gold is one of the great pleasures of my life.
However, recently, immediately after breakfast, which is the only time I have my coffee I had begun to experience stomach pains. My stomach was incredibly upset and had a yukky sickly feeling. There had been no changes in my diet, no changes in my health in general so I placed the ill feeling stomach to my coffee consumption.
I decided to give it up and I am currently five days into my no coffee programme and boy am I suffering. On the morning of day two I woke with a mild headache and some minute feelings of tiredness and lethargy. Those feelings and the headache have continued to increase until today - five days in - I feel dreadful.
I woke this morning at five am with a terrible headache which was most prominent in the upper area of my nose feeling very like a sinus problem. The headache stretches into my forehead and has a pressured vice like pain. I also woke feeling incredibly tired and struggled to get out of bed until 9am. My mind was not clear also. I felt a little muddled, a little confused.
As I write this it iis currently 3.02pm and my headache has become very troublesome. My eyes have pressure behind them and my forehead hurts a great deal. I am preparing myself to go for a walk to try and clear my head, an activity which I usually love but my lethargy means that walking will be a struggle this afternoon.
Needless to say that I am shocked that only one cup of coffee and foregoing it could have such a negative effect but it is certainly biting hard. I will continue to not have coffee and hopefully soon these symptoms shall pass. Sooner rather than later I hope.

England Boss Roy Hodgson Singles Out Everton Star Ross Barkley For Special Wembley Performance
As England beat hapless Estonia last night at London`s Wembley Stadium taking their European qualifying record to nine wins from nine games boss Roy Hodgson singled out rising star Ross Barkley for his outstanding performance.
21 year old Ross Barkley, a graduate of Everton`s excellent youth development system shone in last nights game setting up Theo Walcott`s opening goal on the stroke of half time and lighting up an otherwise uneventful game with his dazzling display confirming the growing stature of his precocious talent.
Hodgson had this to say about the brilliant young Everton and England man.
"It`s not often that I contest people`s choice for man of the match. There were one or two other candidates, but I`m pleased Ross got it. We saw what he can do out there."
Barkley has been in excellent form for Everton this season and seems to have found a role within the team that he thrives in after manage Roberto Martinez dropped him into a slightly deeper midfield role where he can dictate the game with his passing and attacking instincts. The young Merseyside native had this to say about his own performance.
"I`m over the moon with my performance. I was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Because I`m an attacking midfielder it is important to get goals, but it was even more important we got the three points."
Barkley had started the game for England last night but maybe only because Micheal Carrick was out injured. On last nights mercurial display Barkley has proved that he should certainly be picked ahead of the over-rated and ineffectual Manchester United midfielder whose place in the England team probably has more to do with Hodgsons bias for picking players from the "big" clubs ahead of better players who do not play for the "Sky five."
